Exploring Your External Drive

You have your own way of saving your precious data that your computer may use everyday. Back up this and back up that , save here and save there. When you extract your data to your externals to keep it safe. But is that enough to have a secure data storage ? Is it enough to have storage devices to keep your data safe ? External drives purpose is to keep your information safe and secure for future use and reference. What do you do when your external source has decided to not work anymore ? what happens to the data that you have worked so hard on that is now lost in limbo?

Firstly your data is not totally lost when your drive gos down, there are data recovery services that are there to help you do just that but the catch is its going to cost you, cost you more than you think. Ask your self that question is it worth it? And other than that fact these services may not be able to recover all the data either. A  typical extraction from a defective device is 145 depending upon how much data is on it , can run into the thousands of dollars .

Second there are ways to get your drive to work again but only temporarily to get your data out. All those methods getting to the data are very risky and may ultimately become a waste of time and also a lost drive as well. External drives have a history in fact to break down , why that is a mystery .

Problems with computer components are a normal assurance, nothing really lasts forever and especially when a computer has so many dependent functions to keep it working properly. So best advice to anyone who has problems with external drives is to have more than one kind or more than one so that if one fails  the other will back you up.
